AVP Metro Petroleum buys Fiesta Marts

AVP Metro Petroleum this month purchased nine Fiesta Mart stores back from Sinclair Oil, the Salt Lake City-based refiner, petroleum marketer and convenience store operator.
AVP Metro then sold three of the stores to dealers. AVP has retained the 40 employees of the existing store-level staff to oversee day-to-day operations — including managers, assistant managers and sales associates, said Wayne Gould, general manager.
Financial details were not disclosed. AVP Metro closed on eight of the stores Jan. 7. The purchase of the ninth store closed on Jan. 13, he said. The six stores are at 2201 W. Albany and 4951 W. Washington in Broken Arrow; 8107 S. Mingo Road in Tulsa, Chouteau, Salina, Okla. and Warner.
“This is a great opportunity for us,” Gould said. “We are glad to be back in the market.”
In March 2008, Sinclair purchased 14 Fiesta Marts from AVP Metro.
Today, AVP Metro expects to sell 10 million gallons of gasoline through the six locations. Overall combined annual sales from the stores is estimated to be between “$35 million and $40 million,” said Rick Bradley, manager of Retail Operations.
AVP operates Fiesta Marts that are branded Sinclair and ConocoPhillips and serves 95 retail outlets in Oklahoma and Missouri, selling about 95 million gallons of gasoline annally, said Weister Smith, Arkansas Valley Cos. president. AVP also operates the Fiesta Mart Car Washes and their corporate home office has been in Tulsa 39 years.
