Apple Opening Tulsa Store for iPhone debut

Apple is planning a grand opening of a retail outlet in Tulsa Friday that delivers double the cool of its normal crowd-generating store introductions.
Not only will the first 1,000 attendees through the door receive an Apple T-shirt (and, if true to other grand openings, possibly unannounced goodie bags with special offers and savings) but customers will be able to buy their iPhone on the opening day of availability.
Located on the lower level of Woodland Hills Mall at 71st Street and Memorial Drive, the Apple store will open from 6-9 p.m. Friday.
The iPhone officially goes on sale at 6 p.m. Friday in Apple retail stores and corporate AT&T outlets across the nation. AT&T is the sole provider for service on the touchscreen phones.
The opening of the Tulsa Apple store has been anticipated for weeks, but Apple and Woodland Hills sources were quiet on the actual opening date. Apple updated its Web site this weekend to reflect the opening of the store, its location and hours and to announce a series of grand opening events, including “a variety of unique and educational presentations, demonstrations and workshops — all free of charge.”
A spokesman for AT&T said Tulsa area AT&T stores that will carry the iPhone are:
Tulsa: 9608 E. 71st St., 1404 S. Lewis Ave., 5505 E. 41st St., 10926 S. Memorial Drive., 7102 S. Memorial Drive and 11169 E. 31st St.
Muskogee: 3405 Chandler Road
Owasso: 9031 N. 121st East Ave.
The iPhone costs $499 for a 4GB model or $599 for an 8GB model. Service plans have not yet been announced.
