On May 8, New York Times bestselling author Nancy Horan will be signing her critically acclaimed book Loving Frank at Price Tower Arts Center, 510 Dewey Ave, Bartlesville, from 6:00 to 6:45pm and holding a public talk at the Bartlesville Public Library Community Room from 7:00-8:00pm.
Hailed by the New York Times as a “transporting drama,” Loving Frank dramatizes the love affair between Frank Lloyd Wright and Mamah Borthwick Cheney, a Chicago socialite and Wright’s client. Horan’s tale brings to life the conflicts and sacrifices Cheney was forced to make as she struggled with her conflicting roles as mother, wife, lover and intellectual. While scholars have largely relegated Cheney to a footnote in the life of America’s greatest architect, author Horan gives full weight to their dramatic love story and illuminates Cheney’s profound influence on Wright. Mamah Borthwick Cheney’s story is an unforgettable journey marked by choices that reshaped her notions of love and responsibility, leading ultimately to this novel’s stunning conclusion.
Nancy Horan is a writer and journalist whose work has appeared in numerous publications. Horan lived most of her life in Oak Park, IL on East Avenue, the very street on which the house Wright built for Mamah and her husband Edwin Cheney is located. Loving Frank is Horan’s first novel.
