BOK Center Nominated for Arena of the Year

Tulsa’s BOK Center, managed by SMG, has been nominated by Pollstar, the concert industry’s leading publication, for the Arena of the Year award. Individuals within the industry will vote and the winner will be announced on Feb. 17 at the annual Pollstar awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
This is the second year in a row since the opening of the BOK Center in September 2008 that the arena has been nominated. Last year, the BOK Center was nominated for Best New Major Concert of the Year award, which eventually went to Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, the actual venue where the awards are hosted. This year, the BOK Center is up against: Air Canada Centre, Toronto; HP Pavilion, San Jose, Calif.; Madison Square Garden, New York; Sommet Center, Nashville; Sprint Center, Kansas City, Mo.; Staples Center, Los Angeles; and the Xcel Energy Center, Saint Paul, Minn.
Again for the second year in a row, John Bolton, BOK Center general manager, is nominated for the Facility Executive of the Year award.
“These awards are like the Oscars for people in our industry,”said Bolton. “It truly is an honor just to be nominated, but of course we would love to win.
