Bartlesville Construction Funds Go to Ballot

The Bartlesville City Council has voted to take a seven-year, three quarter cent sales tax that would fund a proposed Pathfinder Recreation District park plan, to the ballot box on May 8.
That date will also decide the fate of Bartlesville Public School’s proposed $30 million bond issue.
If approved, the sales tax proposal would increase the sales tax in Bartlesville from 8 percent to 8.75 percent and bond issue would increase property tax from 20 to 25 mills.
The proposed sales tax increase is expected to generate just over $28 million, the projected price tag for the Pathfinder Recreation District project.
For the sales tax increase to pass, a simple majority is required. A super majority, or 60 percent, is required for the school bond issue to pass.
