Blue Cross Blue Shield Opens Facility

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma officially opens its full service unit with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 15.
The private ceremony and guided tours are scheduled for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the site of the new facility, 7777 E. 42nd Place (42nd Street and Memorial Drive).
Attendees will include Mike Bunney, chief economic development adviser to Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor, and Craig Knutson, chief of staff, Oklahoma Insurance Department.
Formerly a Wal-Mart building, the 108,000-SF structure is designed to accommodate more than 550 employees. The facility combines departments to enable staff to assist members with questions and claims in the most efficient manner.
“This facility was remodeled to fit the specific needs of Blue Cross staff, so they can serve our members in the most effective manner,” said Bert Marshall, president, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma. “We also created the facility large enough to allow room for growth in employment.”
