Cherokee Casino Announces $125 Million Expansion

Cherokee Principal Chief Chad Smith and David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Enterprises, announced a $125 million expansion to Cherokee Casino Resort in Catoosa today.

The expansion plans entail a 20-story, 200-room tower boasting high-end suites, convention space that will seat approximately 1,000, additional meeting space and restaurants and entertainment venues that will compliment those available in the Cherokee Casino Resort.

The expansion means 450 new jobs at Cherokee Casino Resort in Catoosa, pushing the venue over 2,000 employees – making Cherokee Nation Enterprises one of the largest employers in the Catoosa area.

Cherokee Nation Enterprises plans to invest over $125 million in the infrastructure of the surrounding community to support the expansion at the casino and resort.

“This expansion is in response to several factors,” Stewart said. “One is the overwhelming success we’ve had at this property.”

Stewart credited customers and employees for the success of the casino in Catoosa, in addition to citing good relations with Catoosa citizens and officials with the City of Tulsa.

“This is a day I have been waiting for for some time,” said Stewart “The economic development aspect of this project is significant.”

“This major expansion is consistent with our effort to be market leaders and first in gaming in Oklahoma,” said Stewart.
