Children’s Hospital to Open Early February

According to Saint Francis Health System, The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis, 6161 S. Yale Ave., is set to open its doors in early February. The $72.6 million, 104-bed facility will provide space for inpatient care, medical and surgical procedures, pediatric intensive care services as well as outpatient and inpatient infusion therapies for children. The facility will also provide services including X-ray, CT scan, a pharmacy, and Child Life Department as well as other ancillary medical and support services.
The 243,500-SF hospital includes an outdoor playground, three rooms for parent stay adjacent to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, 14 recovery suites for surgical care. The exterior of the building is covered with a combination of pink, blue, red and purple metal panels and the interior is highlighted by children’s murals and a colorful flooring system.
The project, which was erected by Manhatten Construction Co., 5601 S. 122nd E. Ave., involved the assembly of 16,751 cubic yards of poured concrete, 2.7 million pounds of reinforcing bar, 62,800 square feet of metal siding and 45,950 SF of exterior glass.
Major contributors to The Children’s Hospital Foundation included The William K. Warren Foundation, Henry Zarrow, Tom and Julie Kivisto Family Foundation, The Hille Foundation, The Helmerich Foundation, The Knightsbridge Foundation and The Saint Francis Hospital Auxiliary.
