City Offers TV Disposal Vouchers

The City of Tulsa distributes vouchers for the free disposal of one television per household April 20 through June 30.
Televisions contain many toxic materials, including lead — known to cause neurological problems, including learning disabilities in children. Like other electronic products, televisions placed in land fills result in the leakage of these materials down into the soil and underground water supply. Televisions also contain steel, copper, plastics and other metals that can be reused within various industries. The voucher system allows for proper disposal so that materials used in the production of televisions can be recovered, and in some instances, reused.
The city made the announcement Monday morning.
