Contractors Offer to Build Folds of Honor HQ

Associated Builders & Contractors of Oklahoma and the Folds of Honor Foundation announce that ABC has formed a team of members to help construct a new headquarters building for the Folds of Honor Foundation, which raises money for scholarships for the families of servicemen and women wounded in action in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“We believe deeply in the mission of the Folds of Honor Foundation and want to do what we can to help,” said Carl Williams,President & CEO of ABC. “Even though our members compete daily in business, they have joined together in this cause to make sure the Foundation has a first-class facility to continue to do its job on behalf of our military families.”
“We are so grateful for the commitment of the Associated Builders & Contractors in helping us create a new headquarters for our organization,” said Dan Rooney, founder and president of the Folds of Honor Foundation. “ABC’s commitment to our military families is another shining example of how this cause brings out the best in Americans. We are looking forward to getting started on this important project and making sure we can best serve the people who have served our country so well.”
Construction on the 3,450 SF headquarters is scheduled to begin mid-July in Owasso, and is expected to take about four months. The building was designed by architect Mark Thomas, AIA, and Architects Collective. A rendering of the headquarters building is available by emailing jfisher@rubenstein.com.
In 2008 and 2009, The Folds of Honor Foundation awarded more than 400 scholarships to recipients from all service branch communities. Patriot Golf Day, the flagship fundraising event for the Foundation, is a collaborative effort with the PGA of America and USGA. On Labor Day weekend, golfers across the country are asked to give an extra dollar or more to fund Folds of Honor scholarships. The inaugural Patriot Golf Day in 2007 raised more than $1 million in a single day; this past year’s generosity reached nearly $2 million.
