Corporation Commission to Furlough Staff

The 470 employees at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission are looking at a 12-day furlough in July.
Director of Administration at the Oklahoma energy regulatory board, Brooks Mitchell, issued a statement announcing furloughs at the OCC beginning Wednesday, July 1.
“Because of our budget shortfall, a furlough plan has been developed for the new fiscal year, which starts July 1,” Mithcell said.
The OCC went into executive session to discuss the furlough.
The three-member panel is working on a cost-cutting plan because the legislature slashed its budget. The downturn in the oil and gas industry has hurt revenues.
The commission regulates public utilities, the oil and gas industry and the transportation and telecommunication industries.
