Due to a clerical error, Paul Wheeler and the Accent Realtors Team were excluded from the “Top Real Estate Teams” list, published June 8 in the Tulsa Business Journal. With gross sales totalling $28,045,577, Wheeler’s team would have topped the list.
Additionally, several agents from Coldwell Banker Select, as well as the Jason and Wendy Smith Team of Keller Williams Realty, were excluded from the “Top Real Estate Agents” list published the same issue.
TDA Announces New Executive Director
Tulsa Development Authority announced the selection of O.C. Walker II as its executive director after an extensive public search and interview process by its board members.
Walker is a graduate of Langston University with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. He also attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his master’s degree in Architectural/Urban Design.
Walker previously worked eight years for the City of Tulsa as a city planner and the past two years for the City of Broken Arrow as senior planner.
McGraw Commercial Properties Closes 21st Street Property
Dr. Gene McCormick, D.D.S. purchased the former McGraw Realtors Corporate building from BOW LLC at 2106 S. Atlanta Place.
The sellers were represented by Alisha Bennett of McGraw Commercial Properties. Frank Petrouskie of McGraw Realtors represented the buyers.
Braums Continues New Store Design
Tulsa’s new Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Store, 6574 E. 71st St., is a Braum’s model “X,” one of the company’s latest, most modern store designs.
With almost 5,000 SF, this is the third model “X” store for the company. The prototype first debuted in Tulsa in June 2008 on S. Lewis.
The new store features a double drive-through window. The interior has stained concrete floors, a dining room that seats approximately 74 guests and a “Fresh Market” grocery area.
The store will employ up to 50 full-time and part-time employees.
Flintco Promotes Heck and Blose
The Flintco Companies Inc. named Lowell Heck as vice president of corporate operations and Jim Blose as vice president/area manager of Tulsa operations.
Heck previously served as vice president/area manager of Tulsa operations.
Blose will fulfill Heck’s previous role as vice president/area manager for the Tulsa operations. He previously served as vice president/area manager of Springfield operations.
City, County Working Together on Widening Project
The City of Tulsa and Tulsa County joined in a cooperative effort to widen east 101st Street at south Memorial Drive.
East 101st Street will be closed at this location for two months during the work.
The City of Tulsa provided the cost of materials and Tulsa County provided labor for construction.
Domer Receives LEED Accreditation
Damon Domer, E.I., civil engineer in the Tulsa office of Crafton Tull Sparks, has received LEED accreditation.
Domer has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
Crafton Tull Sparks employs nearly 300.
Fewer Construction Job Losses in May
After losing around 10,000 jobs a month for the past four months, the nonresidential building construction sector lost 1,400 jobs in May, according to the June 5 employment report by the U.S. Labor Department.
The nation’s unemployment rate now stands at 9.4 percent.
“What can be said is that nonresidential construction’s performance continues to rise above expectations,” said Associated Builders and Contractors Chief Economist Anirban Basu. “The loss of just 1,400 jobs in the nonresidential building industry is a reflection of contractors adjusting to the current business climate. The hope is that the pace of employment loss continues to wane in June and during the months ahead.”
Becco Repairs Bridges
Becco Contractors Inc. started construction for the City of Tulsa to repair the bridge crossing Douglas Creek at 1600 north Mingo Road.
One northbound lane and one southbound lane are open during the construction, which is scheduled for completion in 45 days.
Becco also began repairs Thursday, June 11, to the 71st Street bridge just west of the Arkansas River.
One eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be open during the work, which also is scheduled for completion in 45 days.
Nabholz Names Superintendent
Nabholz Construction Services appointed James McElhany as superintendent for the Tulsa division.
He will be responsible for the overall project production, scheduling, and coordination in the Oklahoma area.
Founded in 1949, Nabholz is employee-owned, licensed in 38 states and has offices in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas.
Flintco Named Green Contractor
Associated Builders and Contractors named Flintco Inc. a Certified Green Contractor.
ABC’s Green Contractor Certification program recognizes construction companies that implement green practices and principles in the workplace.
Flintco is one of four ABC companies to participate in a pilot program and earn the Certified Green Contractor distinction.
“This is an exciting achievement for the Flintco family,” said Lowell Heck, vice president of corporate operations. “We at Flintco take pride in our commitment to leaving a jobsite in better condition than when we initially arrived.”
ABC Promotes Parks
ABC Supply Co. Inc. promoted Billy Parks, manager of its Tulsa store, to managing partner.
Parks, a resident of Tulsa, joined ABC Supply in 1997 and was named manager of the Tulsa branch in 2006.
Founded in 1982, ABC Supply is a wholesale distributor. Its Tulsa branch is at 7333 E. 38th St.
ABC Teams With Foundation To Build HQ
Associated Builders & Contractors of Oklahoma and the Folds of Honor Foundation announced that ABC has formed a team of members to help construct a new headquarters building for the Folds of Honor Foundation, which raises money for scholarships for the families of servicemen and women wounded in action in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Construction on the 3,450-SF headquarters is scheduled to begin mid-July in Owasso and is expected to take approximately four months.
The building was designed by architect Mark Thomas, AIA, and Architects Collective.
