Crossland Going Green

Crossland Construction Inc., a privately held general contractor based in Columbus, Kan., will create a new corporate-wide environmental sustainability program.
Crossland will be targeting several areas throughout the company to improve. For example, they have launched an overall campaign to improve the fuel efficiency of their entire fleet of over 200 company vehicles and will begin a company wide “job site” recycling program. A typical North American commercial construction project, according to Crossland, generates up to 2.5 pounds of solid waste per square foot of completed floor space.
Crossland will also spend attempt to educate its employees by conducting LEED Certification classes for Project Managers and select members of its management team.
Crossland, founded in 1978, is one of the fastest growing general contractors in the United States. In 2007 Crossland posted revenues of $474 million and is currently ranked 139th in ENR magazine’s Top 400 General Contractors in the country. Crossland operates branch offices in Tulsa; Rogers, Ark.; and Prosper, Texas.
