Dental Clinic Opens in Pearl District

Pediatric Dental Clinic is set to become the first health care facility in Tulsa to be LEED Silver Certified.
The facility, owned by Dr. Charles R. Keithline and located on the corner of Sixth Street and Utica Avenue, is under LEED design review.
The building houses three related dentistry businesses: Pediatric Dental Group, OB Dental and Utica Imaging.
The facility’s sustainable features include:
It was built on a rejuvenated EPA-designated “brownfield” site, meaning property complicated by the presence of hazardous materials.
It builds on the existing density of the community.
It features geothermal heating and cooling beneath the parking lot, low-VOC interior finishes and sealants and indigenous landscaping species.
The majority of the construction waste was recycled.
Tulsa firm McFarland Davies designed the building, and Cowen Construction served as design-build contractor.
Attention to sustainability isn’t new for either firm, McFarland having recently designed the LEED-certified University of Oklahoma Wayman Tisdale Health Center, and Cowen having provided one of the first registered LEED projects in the state of Oklahoma, with Saint Francis Health System’s Tulsa campus.
