Over 100 proposals were submitted and 25 business models pitched. Now, 12 entrepreneurs will advance to the semi-final round in the Mayor’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. On Sept. 3, these semi-finalists will have the opportunity to present a five-minute pitch to the panel of Spirit Award judges.

Before that next presentation round, the semi-finalists will be coached in business model and pitching techniques. They will also be coached on how to connect to resources and expertise to help polish business plans and pitching techniques. There will be more than 30 coaches will be participating in this year’s award process.
“New businesses have been integral to Tulsa’s history and the Mayor’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award will put us in a great position to become a national center, if not a global center, for entrepreneurs to start and expand their businesses,” said Mayor Kathy Taylor.
The winner of the Award will be announced in November. First prize is $30,000; second place is $5,000; third place is $2,500. Prize money is sponsored by SpiritBank.
