Gettin’ Cosi with Tulsa

Winnercomm founder Jim Wilburn said a key ingredient was missing from the Tulsa dining landscape.
“We think that there’s an unfilled demand for upscale fast-casual dining options in Tulsa and Cosi fits perfectly into that niche,” Wilburn said in a prepared statement.
Wilburn opened Tulsa’s first Cosi, a Chicago-based chain of up-scale convenience restaurants fast-casual dining restaurants, to Winnercomm employees and south Tulsa July 11 in the Windsor Plaza shopping center at 4929 E. 71st St. Wilburn signed as a franchisee for the state of Oklahoma last year.
With 135 locations in 16 states and Washington, D.C., Cosi’s European-inspired dining experience combines an eclectic, fresh-prepared menu with counter-to-table service in a contemporary, living room atmosphere featuring oversized sofas and warm colors.
Wilburn brought Tulsa restaurateurs John and Susan Molinar in on the game to head up the Cosi management operations team in Oklahoma. Molinar said the company will open 8-10 Cosi locations in Oklahoma, with 4-5 each in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
Cosi’s crackly-crust flatbread recipe is featured in its sandwiches and melts ranging from the more traditional Cosi Club to the delectable Pesto Chicken Melt and the vegetarian-friendly Vegi Muffaletta with grilled eggplant. Cosi’s menu also includes hand-tossed signature salads, pizzas, soups, bagels, and gourmet desserts. Cosi caters, too.
Cosi is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. ?
