Griffin to Build Downtown Media Center

Oklahoma owned and operated Griffin Communications LLC has announced the acquisition of land in downtown Tulsa’s historical Brady District where it will build a $20 million, 50,000-SF media center.
The Griffin Communications Media Center will house employees of the company’s Tulsa properties, The News on 6 (KOTV), CW 12/19 and Griffin New Media, which operates the company’s television Web sites.
“We are thrilled to keep our Tulsa media properties in the downtown area,” said David Griffin, president and CEO of the company. “The building design will provide creative space for our 186 employees, access for visitor tours and space where community groups can hold meetings. We want to be a catalyst for continued growth in downtown Tulsa.”
Griffin has under contract a group of parcels totaling 2.5 acres of land bounded on the east by Cincinnati Avenue, on the south by Cameron Street, on the west by Boston Avenue and on the north by the IDL. Three buildings on the site will be razed in early January to make way for the new facility.
Groundbreaking ceremonies will be scheduled early next year with a target completion date of June 2009.
The News on 6 staff moved to its current location at 302 S. Frankfort Ave. in 1949, and added CW 12/19 operations out of that facility when Griffin Communications purchased the station in 2005. Griffin has grown from 150 employees in 2000 to more than 400 employees today. ?
