Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry is coming to Tulsa to ceremonially sign a bill authorizing a state bond which will fund $25 million for Arkansas River improvements.
The bond will leverage an additional $50 million in federal funding secured by U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe through the Water Resources Development Act last year.
The $75 million in state and federal funds, along with nearly $10 million in Vision 2025 and Third Penny funds, will fund improvements to the Zink Dam, stabilize the stream bank and help build two dams in Sand Springs and Jenks.
The project will be coordinated by the City of Tulsa, Tulsa County, surrounding communities, INCOG and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
The news conference will be held on Thursday, June 5 at the River West Festival Park, 2100 S. Jackson.
