KPMG LLP, the audit, tax and advisory firm, has promoted Tom Smith to managing director and Sarah Tisdale Horton to manager, and welcomes Travis Terral from its Dallas office and Derrick Corey to the firm as managers. All are based at the firm’s Tulsa office.
Tom Smith has been promoted to the position of managing director for KPMG’s Tax Practice. Smith joined KPMG in 2001 and has 16 years of experience in the profession. Tom’s primary focus is assisting clients in state and local tax matters. He is a licensed certified public accountant in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah.
Sarah Tisdale Horton has been promoted to manager, in the firm’s Audit practice, focusing primarily on energy and industrial products companies. Horton joined KPMG in 2001 after completing a master’s degree in accountancy from the University of Arkansas. She completed her undergraduate degrees in politics and business administration with an emphasis in accounting from Hendrix College.
Travis Terral, a manager in KPMG’s Merger and Acquisitions Tax practice has joined the Tulsa office from the firm’s Dallas office. As a member of this practice, which he joined in 2001, Terral performs tax due diligence on potential acquisition targets, taxable and tax-free restructuring and other special projects. Travis is a native of Lake Providence, La., and graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He then attended Southern Methodist University Law School in Dallas and graduated with both a law degree and a Master of Laws degree in taxation.
Derrick Corey has joined KPMG as a manager in the firm’s Financial Risk Management practice. Derrick’s primary focus is to assist clients in identifying, quantifying and managing energy trading risk. A Broken Arrow native, Derrick has seven years’ experience in the energy trading industry and holds an M.B.A. from Oklahoma State University.
