Magazine Franchises Get Sporting Chance

High School Sports the Magazine has sold two franchises, the first such sale for the company.

T. Lynn Mitchell owns the Tulsa-based franchise, which debuted its publication in August 2005. The High School Sports the Magazine franchises will publish in the Oklahoma City and Little Rock, Ark., markets. Oklahoma restauranteur Kevin Hern will own both publications when the deal with High School Sports the Magazine closes on Sept. 4.

According to Natalie Cordell, franchise coordinator for High School Sports the Magazine, the deal with Hern also offers him first right of refusal for the Dallas, Texas, market.

Details of the transaction were not disclosed, but according to the publication’s website the franchise fee for a High School Sports the Magazine franchise starts at $50,000 and estimates a total initial investment of $125,000 to $175,000.
