Mason Named Publisher of Tulsa Business Journal

Community Publishers Inc. has hired a Detroit-area marketing and advertising executive to be the publisher of the Tulsa Business Journal.
Jim Mason, 46, has 22 years of business-to-business-related experience, from small retailers to large Fortune 500 corporations like General Motors.
Mason’s business experience is complemented with an undergraduate degree in advertising from Michigan State University and a MBA from Eastern Michigan University.
Mason has an extensive background in the publishing industry. He served as senior vice president for Ann Arbor-based Jamco Marketing and Advertising. At Jamco, he was responsible for media planning, media buying, creative oversight, business market planning, sales presentations and business development.
Mason has executive, multimedia consulting sales experience with Gannett, Inc., the Detroit News & Free Press, and
Mason was publisher of the Insider Business Journal in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He launched several successful and award winning business journals in the suburban Detroit area. He also created an online version of the print business journal.
Mason’s sales experience includes daily and weekly newspaper sales and management experience in both suburban and metro markets. Mason has management experience with shopping guides, specialty publications, Web sites, Internet marketing and e-commerce.
Mason, a former wrestler, earned All-American honors at Michigan State University.
He is married and has four children.
