Mayor Kathy Taylor announced today her selection of David Bostrom to serve as Interim Police Chief for the City of Tulsa. He will serve in the post until the Mayor completes her interviews of applicants gleaned from a national search and determines her choice for a permanent chief.
Bostrom is currently service as an independent consultant in Wilmington, Delaware, following an administrative role at the International Association of Chiefs of Police in Alexandria, Virginia. Prior, he served as a managing partner for Police Assessment Associates, which developed executive police curricula and conducted trainings for officers both in the U.S. and abroad.
Bostrom’s 35-year career in law enforcement includes command roles with the City of Wilmington, Delaware and 23 years with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C>, including serving as commander of the Special Operations Division in the Second District.
Bostrom holds a B.A. in Polical Science from Yale University and an M.S. in Management and Leadership from John Hopkins University’s Police Executive Leadership Program. His law enforcement career began in 1972 with the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department.
