The Women’s Business Center of Rural Enterprises of Oklahoma, a Durant-based economic development organization, will hold its fifth annual Women’s Biz Conference and Expo on April 19.
The event will be held at the Southeast Expo Center, 4500 W. Highway 270 in McAlester.
Keynote speaker for the event is motivational speaker Mamie McCullough.
The luncheon is sponsored by the Citizen Potawatomi Nation; the Chickasaw Nation is sponsoring the Business Expo, and the Keynote speaker is sponsored by Wal-Mart. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the Conference with a grand door prize awarded at the end of the conference.
The conference will feature workshops where acknowledged experts in their fields will present subjects for small businesses and entrepreneurs, including: Take the Mystery Out of Business Financing; Connecting Economic Trends and Business Feasibility; How Do You Do Business With the Government?; Marketing to Stand Above the Crowd, Essential First Steps in Starting a Business; Not-So-Secret Basics of Business Accounting; Hiring, Firing and Retaining Employees; Creating the Vision for Your Business; Introducing Your Food Products to the Marketplace; Entrepreneurial Strategies and How to Avoid Pitfalls; and Agri-Tourism.
Event organizers estimate that 40 exhibitors are expected to have booths at the Expo. Booth space is still available. Exhibitors will be able to market their goods and services to attendees, attend the opening session, attend workshops of their choice, attend the luncheon and hear the keynote speaker, and network with other exhibitors and Expo guests.
Partners co-sponsoring the Conference and Expo include area technology centers, area state colleges, chambers of Commerce, Main Street programs and OSU Extension and REI’s Women’s Business center, as well as 25 corporate sponsors. The WBC is funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Conference registration is $40 and booth space will be provided at no extra charge. For those with limited time, there is the opportunity to attend the keynote luncheon and visit the Expo exhibit hall for just $20.
