McBirney Mansion to Become a Hotel

WSL Properties LLC dba George Warde, Jim Seawright and Jack Lee have announced plans to purchase Tulsa’s historic McBirney Mansion at 1414 Galveston Ave. and to convert the former home into an 80-suite, 112,000 SF hotel.
The renovation and conversion from bed and breakfast to hotel will cost an estimated $25 million. The completed hotel will include a restaurant, day spa and underground parking.%9
The sale of the property will be complete in late January, and construction is expected to conclude in April 2008.
The mansion, which was built in 1928 for banker James McBirney, was designed by architect John Long and appraised for $1.475 million in 2005.
The property is listed by owner McBirney Asset Management Inc. dba Caroline Cardin at $2.2 million.
WSL Properties’ plans call for an addition of approximately 100,000 SF to the building. Additions will include underground parking facilities and meeting facilities that can accommodate up to 300.
The McBirney Mansion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on Nov. 13, 1976.
