New Sirens Shake Drivers to Attention

Sirens often lose when they compete with sophisticated stereo systems, cell phone conversations and practically sound-proof vehicle cabins.
EMSA paramedics encounters non-yielding drivers during nearly every emergency response; many motorists say they simply don’t hear the sirens of approaching ambulances.
Now, EMSA will become the first ambulance service in the nation to outfit its entire fleet with new Howler sirens that low-frequency tones which cause nearby objects to vibrate. In other words, drivers may not hear an ambulance’s approach but will soon be able to feel it.
