OSU-Tulsa Researcher Generates Power from Waste Heat

Oklahoma State University-Tulsa researcher Dr. Daryoosh Vashaee strives to convert wasted heat from aircraft to electricity.

Vashaee and his engineering graduate students will develop thermoelectric materials that will harvest heat emissions from aircraft engine exhaust to supplement the internal power supply for aircraft, much like a hybrid car.

Vashaee has been awarded a five-year, $700,000 grant from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research and a three-year, $200,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.

Vashaee is an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering.
