Owasso Council Makes TCC Land Capital Priority

Owasso city councilors have unanimously approved a resolution making the acquisition of land and building of a road for Tulsa Community College a top capital improvement priority for the coming year.
With two councilors absent, Mayor Stephen Cataudella, D. J. Gall and Doug Bonebrake voted 3-0 to approve the capital improvement priority list recommended by staff.
Eric Wiles, community development director, presented the five priorities that include acquiring about 25 acres for a $16 million TCC campus.
TCC has placed on a May 13 ballot a $76 million countywide bond issue.
The council’s actions of making arrangements for TCC to locate in Owasso may be the third most significant event in 20 years, according to City Manager Rodney Ray.
“The widening of Hwy. 169, the opening of Bailey Medical Center and St. John Owasso Hospital and now Tulsa Community College are life changing actions,” he said.
