Patel to Build ‘Lifestyle’ Hotel

Tulsa hotelier Andy Patel has announced that he will soon break ground on a new aloft hotel near the intersection of 71st Street and U.S. 169.
The hotel, a brand of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, will open in late 2008 or early 2009.
Patel, dba Alisha Hospitality, purchased the 3.67-acre tract of land in early June from DLB Inv. LLC for $960,000. According to CB Richard Ellis/Oklahoma, the surrounding acreage is planned for retail development.
The 140-room hotel, which Starwood considers part of its “lifestyle brand,” will feature nine-foot ceilings and oversized windows in each guest “loft.” Each room will feature large stylish bathrooms with oversized walk-in showers and will include a combination high-tech office and entertainment center, with wireless Internet access and a large, flat-panel HDTV television.
After launching the brand in 2005, Starwood began accepting aloft development applications in January 2006. More than 20 hotel groundbreakings are expected in 2007.
