Pickens Pushes Energy Independence Plan to Gas Execs

Since T. Boone Pickens unveiled his sweeping plan designed to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil, more than 170,000 people have visited his Web site to learn more about the proposal.
Some encourage him to enter politics and become the nation’s energy czar, he said.
The legendary oilman unveiled the “Pickens Plan,” a plan to increase wind to 22 percent of electricity production. That currently is the natural gas share, and Pickens suggests consumers use the natural gas to power vehicles instead.
The U.S. currently spends $700 billion per year on foreign oil. The Pickens Plan could cut this demand by more than a third in less than a decade.
