The Poultry Community Council has named Jackie Cunningham as Director of Community Relations.
Cunningham has several years of experience in agriculture. Prior to joining the Council, she was a 4-H agent through Oklahoma State University Extension. She and her family also own a commercial cow-calf operation.
Cunningham has her associate’s degree in Agribusiness from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami, Okla. She is a member of several farm organizations, including the Delaware County Cattlemen’s Association, the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association and the Oklahoma Farm Bureau.
In her new position with the Poultry Community Council, Cunnigham will serve as the primary spokesperson for the poultry industry, while developing new relationships between the agriculture industry and community organizations, environmental groups, elected officials, and regulatory agencies. She will also lead educational initiatives for the Council including presentations to civic clubs, schools and other organizations.
Cunningham’s love for agriculture is something she credits to her upbringing. She grew up on a poultry farm near Colcord, Okla. Her family was also involved in cattle farming and horse showing.
“I was raised with a passion for agriculture,” says Cunningham. “It is my goal to educate and inform our communities about the importance of the poultry industry and that of agriculture in general. I’m excited about this opportunity.”
