Saint Simeons Nears Completion

Work is nearing completion on a new 72,000-SF expansion of Saint Simeons Episcopal Home, 3701 N. Cincinnati Ave.
The project will add 60 assisted living apartments divided between 300-SF studios, 400-SF suites and 600-SF one-bedroom apartments. The new facility will bring the home’s capacity to 195 residents, including those in the home’s 10 independent living cottages, the health care center, a full-time-care nursing home, and the memory center, a facility for persons with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Stephen Mason, executive director of the Saint Simeons Foundation, said the expansion came from a need to update the home’s aging facilities.
“The board of directors recognized the need to update and replace the antiquated structure we currently have,” Mason said. “The original assisted living apartments were constructed in the mid ’60s, and have had a lot of traffic since then.”
The $22 million facility, funded entirely through private donations, will also include a wellness center, which will include a gym, workout studios and a saline pool.
“We chose a saline pool because it will be easier on the more sensitive skin of our residents,” said Saint Simeons President and CEO Lindsay Fick.
The new structure will also include a small bistro and cooking demonstration area dubbed Carla’s Corner for the home’s former Director of Nursing and a 2,500-volume library.
Design of the facility was handled by Matrix, and construction is being performed by Flintco.
Mason said the projected completion date is early July, with residents moving in the same month.
