Sand Springs Community Center Breaks Ground

Ground has officially been broken on Sand Springs’ new $4.2 million Community Center.
Construction on the 26,000-SF facility, which was financed by the city’s 2005 bond issue, is expected to be substantially complete in May 2008, according to the project contractor, Crestline Construction Co. of Broken Arrow.
The community center design calls for a gymnasium, office space, locker rooms and a large multi-purpose room on the 10-acre site. The design features a large, translucent silo staircase, which should be visible from the Sand Springs Expressway.
PSA Dewberry Architects designed the project.
The center’s design has options for future expansion built in.
A lease agreement will allow the city to continue occupation of its present community center at 420 Plaza Court until the completion of the new center.
