Schwab Hall Dedication Today at TIA

Tulsans are gathering Monday to recognize the life and service of Medal of Honor recipient PFC Albert E. Schwab.
There will be a 2 p.m. dedication ceremony at the Tulsa International Airport, honoring PFC Schwab — a lifelong Tulsan who attended Central High School and the University of Tulsa before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1944.
On May 7, 1945, his company was advancing in their operation on Okinawa when they were attacked by machine gun fire. PFC Schwab scaled a cliff in the face of fire and eliminated the gunfire assault, allowing the Marines to advance. He was killed while carrying out his attack.
President Harry S. Truman posthumously awarded a Medal of Honor to PFC Schwab, which was presented to his 3-year-old son on Memorial Day in 1946.
