A “standing room only” crowd watched as Mayor Kathy Taylor presented the first annual Tulsa Spirit Entrepreneurial Award to Seeking Sitters. Owners Adrienne and David Kallweit receive a $25,000 dollar prize as well as office space and support from Spirit Bank and its strategic partners.
The Kallweits worked for more than six months to prepare their business plan and presentation. More than 60 entrepreneurs entered the competition in April 2007 and a select panel of judges narrowed the field to six finalists in September. After a final presentation in October, they chose SeekingSitters as the winner. The judges based their decisions on several criteria, including strength and viability of the business plan, potential for growth and commitment to staying in Tulsa.
The Kallweits plan to use their prize money to grow their franchise system through a national marketing plan. SeekingSitters currently has 7 franchises in Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri and Colorado with plans to expand across the country. This national network of background screened babysitters allows families to utilize the same outstanding service while on vacation, traveling and even when they move. They will maintain their headquarters in Tulsa.
Founded in 2004, SeekingSitters provides easy, safe babysitting solutions for families, from last minute child care to regular scheduled services.
