Sen. Coburn to Seek Re-Election

Sen. Tom Coburn of Muskogee will run for re-election to the U.S. Senate in 2010.
The Oklahoma Republican and physician, who earned a reputation as a staunch opponent of earmarks and runaway spending, made the announcement Monday in Tulsa.
Coburn Coburn, who previously served three terms in the U.S. House of Representative, was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004. He won that election with 53 percent of the vote. During that 2004 campaign, Coburn pledged to serve no more than two terms in the Senate.
No other Oklahoma candidates have announced plans yet to seek the post in 2010.
