The Sequoyah School, a Cherokee Nation high school located in Tahlequah, has opened the newly completed Sequoyah Arena.
The multi-purpose arena, which is officially named “Tsu-Na-Ne-Lo-Di,” Cherokee for “place where they play,” will seat 1,769 for fine arts and athletic events.
The arena cost $8.5 million to build, is approximately 55,000 SF, and was erected by Cherokee Nation Construction Services. Tulsa-based Boynton Williams and Associates designed the structure.
Along with a basketball arena, the building includes a stage for fine arts and concerts, four classrooms, a full kitchen, two concession areas, training and dressing rooms, and a full walking track.
