SpiritBank is proud to sponsor the third annual Mayor Kathy Taylor’s Tulsa Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. We truly think small businesses play a crucial role in Tulsa’s economic vitality.
Over the past few years, we have had the opportunity to watch many of the entrepreneurs who have participated in this competition grow, expand, receive national recognition for their ideas and, most importantly, make an impact on our community.
It is through this passion and spirit that other businesses are inspired, which will in turn strengthen our economy and encourage small business growth in our city.
Because of Tulsa’s support of entrepreneurialism, we are being recognized throughout the country as a great place to start a company. Being recently named by CNNMoney.com as one of the top 25 midsize metropolitan areas to launch a small business is a step in the right direction. (See the related story on page 13.)
As the contest comes to a close, we look forward to seeing the impact this group of bright candidates will make to further enhance innovation and growth within the city. It is my hope that entrepreneurs will see our city as a place that supports entrepreneurial thought and spirit and welcomes new businesses, ideas, technologies and opportunities.
We congratulate our top seven finalists and look forward to their efforts to build entrepreneurialism to even higher levels in Oklahoma.
Kell Kelly is the president of SpiritBank, which awards the first-, second- and third-place winners $30,000, $5,000 and $2,500, respectively.
