TU Announces Executive Speaker Series

The University of Tulsa’s Friends of Finance announced an impressive line-up for its 2007-08 Executive Speaker series. Speakers include nationally known business executives, including Steve Largent, president of CTIA, and Wade Miquelon, CFO of Tyson Foods Inc.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with the talented businessmen speaking at TU this season,” said Bob Fitzgerald, Friends of Finance president. “These luncheons provide such an incredible opportunity to exchange business techniques and explore new issues with some of the nation’s top business leaders. This year’s series will be no exception.”

Last year, every speaker luncheon sold out, making it one of the Friends of Finance most successful years to date. This year’s speaker list includes the following business leaders:

Sept. 6: Steve Largent, President and CEO, CTIA The Wireless Association
Oct. 4: R.A. (Al) Walker CFO, Andarko Petroleum Corporation
Nov. 29: Christopher Soder, President North American Travel, priceline.com
Jan. 17: Wade Miquelon, EVP and CFO, Tyson Foods, Inc.
March 11: Michael Morris, Chairman, president & CEO, AEP

The University of Tulsa’s Friends of Finance is an organization consisting of business professionals, TU alumni and supporters of the College of Business Administration. Members share an interest in business related issues, particularly finance and operations management, and gather to share business advice and methods. They are also committed to helping TU gain prominence in these areas.

The organization also provides a forum for business professionals to network and share different business perspectives. The organization has hosted more than 26,000 attendees and 150 speakers on a broad range of topics.

“We ended last year with almost 500 members, and with this year’s line-up we’ll have no trouble surpassing that number. These numbers speak so much for the development and growth of the Friends of Finance organization,” Fitzgerald said.

The Friends of Finance Executive Speaker series luncheons are open to the public, but reservations are required. The cost for each luncheon is $20 for Friends of Finance members and $30 for nonmembers. Annual memberships for 2007-08 year are $50 for those in the Tulsa area and $10 for those who live outside Tulsa’s 50-mile radius.
