TU Hires Assistant Professor of Women’s Studies

The University of Tulsa Henry Kendall College of Arts and Sciences today announced the hiring of an assistant professor of history and women’s studies and director of the women’s studies certification program.
Jan Doolittle Wilson joins the college with more than 10 years of teaching experience in the field of history and women’s studies. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in United States history from Indiana State University and earned a doctorate degree in United States women’s history from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
Also serving as chair of the women’s studies governing board, Wilson will be responsible for planning courses, developing programs and recruiting students for the women’s studies program. In addition, she will continue bringing new ideas to TU by attending women’s and gender studies workshops and conferences.
Wilson received nominations for Teacher of the Year at two of her former employers, Central Michigan University and Fort Hays State University, and is frequently published in academic works. She is also called upon for scholarly presentations, most recently serving as a panelist on gender and racial justice for the Organization of American Historians Regional Conference.
