Mayor Kathy Taylor and The University of Tulsa College of Law National Energy- Environment Law & Policy Institute will host a community-wide event this Friday as part of the National Conversation on Climate Action.
The Tulsa Conversation will discuss the science of global climate change and steps at the local level and beyond to address these issues. The Oklahoma Climatological Survey will release its most recent statement on climate change at the event. Tulsa is one of more than 50 local governments hosting similar events this week.
The National Conversation is sponsored by ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability, Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies and the Association of Science-Technology Centers.
The Tulsa program is scheduled to begin with opening remarks by Mayor Taylor, followed by presentations from: Gary McManus, assistant state climatologist with the Oklahoma Climatological Survey; Betin Santos, regional director of the ICLEI South Central Region; and Irma Russell, professor of law and director of TU?s NELPI program.
