Tournament Managers Work to Keep LPGA in Tulsa

Octagon, Tournament managers for the LPGA Tour event in Tulsa, and the LPGA Tour have released the following statements in response to title sponsor, SemGroup L.P., voluntarily filing for Chapter 11.

“The greater Tulsa area and the LPGA Tour have enjoyed a very successful eight-year partnership, thanks in large part to the terrific support from numerous corporate partners like SemGroup, John Q. Hammons and Williams over the years,” said Andy Bush, Vice President of Octagon Golf. “In addition, tremendous community support for the Tournament and the LPGA Tour has proved that Tulsans want this event to continue to grow in the area. Octagon and the LPGA Tour are currently working together to keep the Tulsa area as an official Tour stop in 2009.”

“We’ve been in close contact with the team at Octagon, which owns and manages the LPGA event in Tulsa, and we remain committed to working to keep the LPGA in Tulsa,” Libba Galloway, LPGA Deputy Commissioner said. “SemGroup has been a valued LPGA partner and we wish them the best as they attempt to emerge from these challenging times.”
