Tulsa Named Top Destination

A tourism industry publication names the Tulsa Convention and Visitors Bureau a “Top Destination Award” recipient as voted on by a 51,000-plus readership comprised of association and corporate meeting planners across the nation.
“Considering the current economic situation and our highly competitive industry, the 2009 awards were hard-earned indeed,” said Timothy Herrick, editorial director for Facilities Media Group, in the award notification letter sent to Suzann Stewart, executive director for the Tulsa CVB. “You and your team should take pride in this accomplishment.”
Along with appearing in the “2009 Facilities & Destinations SuperBook,” Tulsa will also be listed on the Facilitesonline Web site averaging 3,000 visitors a day.
“This award is validation in our quest to sell Tulsa as a destination location,” said Stewart. “The CVB staff and our hospitality partners have worked extremely hard this part year and been able to bring national groups to Tulsa, despite the economy, so to be named a ‘top destination’ is a great pat on the back.”
Industry awards such as this help in promoting Tulsa to meeting planners, and in turn will result in greater opportunities to bring national conventions to the area.
