Tulsa’s Top Communications Professionals Honored by IABC Tulsa

Tulsa’s top communications professionals were honored by their peers Thursday, Oct. 25, at the annual Bronze Quill Awards party, sponsored by the Tulsa chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.

John W. Gibson, chief executive officer of Oneok, was named Communicator of the Year. He was honored for his commitment to communicate with employees, investors, media and other important audiences as he transitioned into his new role as CEO at the beginning of the year.

The John Hartman Award for the top communications professional of the year went to Megan Washbourne of Oneok. She was honored for her outstanding contributions to her company, the communications profession and the community.

Lynn Zimmerman of ConocoPhillips received the IABC President’s Award for her support of IABC’s organizational goals.

In addition, nearly 30 Bronze Quill awards were given in 17 categories for exceptional work completed during 2006 and 2007.

Ginger Homan of Crafton Tull Sparks won Best of Show with her entry in the direct mail category.

Awards of Excellence were presented to Stacy Wilson, Lynn Zimmerman, Ann Shiveley and Shea Daugherty for “ConocoPhillips Burlington IT Integration;” Shawna Berger and Lynn Zimmerman for ConocoPhillips’ “GSS Global Connection;” Charlene Bassett for Oneok’s four-color quarterly magazine; Rick Ayre for Oneok’s interactive centennial timeline; Chris Berger for 66 Federal Credit Union’s “HELOC Promotion;” Shelley Bowersock of Crafton Tull Sparks for “The Village at Centre Pointe Portfolio;” Chris Owen of R.L. Hudson for the “RL Hudson Branding Project” and “Products/Capabilities Communications Campaign;” and to both Chris Owen and Jim Morgan of R.L. Hudson for R.L. Hudson’s publication “Solutions.”

The annual awards party was held at Central Center in Centennial Park in Tulsa. Sponsors of the event were BolenInk, ConocoPhillips, McNally Printing, Oneok, PSO and Walsh Associates.
