The Williams Companies has been named a finalist for awards in three divisions of the 2006 Platts Global Energy Awards.
The Tulsa-based Williams’ natural gas production business is one of five finalists for Hydrocarbon Producer of the Year, their 14,000-mile natural gas pipeline business has been names as one of 11 finalists for Energy Transporter of the Year, and the company’s CEO, Steve Malcolm, is a finalist for the CEO of the Year award.
In a letter to Williams, Platts president Victoria Pao said, “Williams has illustrated tremendous leadership through its outstanding accomplishments, and you and your team deserves praise for your dedication to excellence.”
Phil Wright, who leads Williams’ pipeline business, added, “It is very gratifying to have the opportunity to receive such a prestigious award. It recognizes and validates the vital services that our businesses provide to the nation and the importance of what Williams people do every day.”
The selection process for the seven-year-old Platts Global Energy Award consists of an evaluation by international energy experts, energy ministers, regulators, past and present heads of energy companies, academics and legislators.
Winners will be announced at an awards dinner in New York City on Thursday, Nov. 30.
