Work Progresses on Cherokee Health Center

A 50,000 pound, 64 feet dome, supported by seven brick interior columns, now sits atop the new Cherokee Nation Muskogee Health Center.
The dome caps the atrium of the a three-story, 101,000 SF building that will offer will offer podiatry, physical therapy, dental and radiology and will include an expanded lab, public health center, optometry department, and pharmacy. The facility is expected to open in the fall of 2007.
The new facility is expected to reduce the burden on other Cherokee Nation and Indian Health Service facilities, especially WW Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, Claremore Indian Hospital, the Redbird Smith Health Center in Sallisaw and the Wilma P. Mankiller Health Center in Stilwell.
The current Muskogee clinic is located at 1805 N. York St.
