Auditor: $22,000 Unaccounted for by MLK Commission

LITTLE ROCK – A state auditor says Arkansas’ Martin Luther King Jr. Commission doesn’t have documents to support about $22,000 in expenses for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2008.

Deputy Legislative Auditor Charles Fiser said Thursday Fiser that parts of the audit will be referred to Prosecuting Attorney Larry Jegley.

Jerelyn Duncan of Little Rock was interim executive director of the commission from February 2007 through March 2008. She could not be reached for comment.

Commission Chairman Phil Kaplan says current commission director DuShun Scarbrough and his staff have received financial training and that such problems will not happen again.
