LaBarge Awarded $2.6 Million Contract From Raytheon

LaBarge Inc. has more work for its plant at Berryville.

The St. Louis provider of electronics has been awarded a $2.6 million contract from the Raytheon Co. to provide wiring harnesses for the MK 48 and MK 54 torpedoes.

It’s the first contract LaBarge has had to supply product for the two torpedo programs.

Primarily launched from submarines, the MK 48 is a heavyweight torpedo designed for anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, in both littoral and deep-water environments. The MK 54 is a lightweight torpedo that can be launched from surface ships, helicopters or planes to track, classify and destroy underwater targets in both deep and shallow water.

Production on the contract is expected to begin in January 2010 and continue through December 2011.
