Leading CPA Firms Merge, Form HoganTaylor LLP

Two leading Oklahoma-based CPA firms, Hogan & Slovacek and Tullius Taylor Sartain & Sartain, will merge to create a firm with more than 160 employees in Oklahoma and Arkansas and a combined annual billing of more than $20 million.
The new independent accounting firm will be called HoganTaylor LLP. Officials made the announcement Monday. The move will be effective Jan. 1.
The decision to merge follows more than six months of research, due diligence and extensive discussions between the partners of both companies, said Bob Slovacek, managing partner of Hogan & Slovacek.
“Our new partnership will be a powerful boost to the depth of experience we provide,” Slovacek said. “We will be able to provide a level of service and expertise on a competitive level with many regional firms.”
Hogan & Slovacek, founded in 1981, employs about 80 people in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Tullius Taylor Sartain & Sartain, established in Tulsa in 1992, has about 80 employees in Tulsa and Fayetteville. Primary services will include tax, audit, accounting, business valuations, personal financial planning and wealth management and estate planning.
“Our combined resources will allow us a new freedom to stay on the leading edge of new technology and trends, to focus on niche services with the greatest growth potential, and to increase our ability to recruit the best and brightest talent in the industry,” said Bob Vaught, the leading partner of Tullius Taylor Sartain & Sartain.
The name HoganTaylor is derived from the names of influential partners from each firm: David O. Hogan, a 2005 Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants Hall-of-Fame inductee who co-founded Hogan & Slovacek with Bob Slovacek in 1981; and Jim Taylor, who left the international accounting firm of Arthur Young with Ray Tullius in 1990 to start their own firm, before joining forces with George and Bud Sartain to create Tullius Taylor Sartain & Sartain in 1992.

HoganTaylor offices will be at 2200 S. Utica Place, Suite 400, and at 6120 S. Yale, Suite 1200; in Oklahoma City at 301 NW 63rd, Suite 290, and in Fayetteville, Ark., at 688 E. Millsap Road, Suite 203.

The firm will represent a wide array of clients in various industries including publicly traded companies, manufacturing, construction, energy, not-for-profits, qualified plans, family owned businesses and high net worth individuals.

The firm is currently working with consultants to develop the new brand, and plans to launch a Web site before the end of the year.
