Ward Productions, the Little Rock news monitoring service, is renovating its offices in the Heritage West building.
More important, the company has started the new year under a new moniker: Mediamon.
H.L. Moody, Mediamon production manager, said the name is more descriptive of what the company actually does: Monitor media for clients and obtain tapes and transcripts of recent news and public affairs programs.
“That’s our major problem, and it historically has been, is that people don’t understand who we are or what we do because we are so behind-the-scenes and we move in that invisible circle … that nobody quite gets the concept,” he said. “So this is just one step in hopefully several steps that are going to get us out there and get us known by more people.”
The name is not the only change Mediamon is seeing. The company hopes to unveil a new Web site in the first quarter of the year, Moody said. The site will allow clients to conduct their own media searches.
The 6-year-old company, owned by Dennis Ward, will continue to offer its broadcast media monitoring services. The company keeps up to three-month archives of news and public affairs programming of television and news radio stations in Little Rock, Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Jonesboro, Texarkana and Shreveport, La. The company can also search programs in more than 80 markets in the United States.
