Orchids Paper Products Reports Record Sales

Orchids Paper Products Co. reports $1.4 million in profits, 22 cents per share for the third quarter — a records for the quarter.
At the same time a year ago, the company reported $1.1 million net income, or 18 cents per share.
The Pryor-based company said for the first nine months, net income was $2.9 million, or 45 cents per share — an increase of $1.2 million compared to net income of $1.7 million, or 27 cents per share during the first nine months of 2007.
Net sales for the third quarter were also a quarterly record $23.3 million, a 21 percent increase over the $19.2 million reported for the same quarter of 2007. Net sales of converted product in the third quarter of 2008 were $19.3 million, a 17 percent increase compared to the $16.5 million of net sales in the same period in 2007 while net sales of parent rolls increased 47 percent to $4 million compared to $2.7 million in the same quarter over quarter comparison.
The increase in converted product net sales was primarily the result of a 21 percent increase in the net selling price per ton which was slightly offset by lower tonnage shipped.
